NOTE: PLEASE ENSURE THAT THE PATIENT YOU WISH TO ENTER A DOSAGE DISPENSE FOR HAS BEEN ASSIGNED TO A DOSAGE SYSTEM. FOR MORE INFORMATION ON HOW TO ASSIGN A PATIENT TO A DOSAGE SYSTEM, CLICK ON THE FOLLOWING LINK How Do I Assign a Patient to a Monitored Dosage System
- Search for the Patient using the patient search or by clicking F2 on your keyboard and open their PMR
- Select MDS mode as highlighted below
- Click 'New Script' or (Keyboard: Alt + I)
- Select 'Start Next Cycle'
- The 'Confirm New Cycle Start Date' box will appear - The next cycle date will be selected by default.
-
Click 'OK'
-
The 'New Rx Details' box will then be displayed, Select 'OK'
- Insert your drug to be dispensed
- The round configuration window will open.
-
Enter the 'Start Date' - This is the start date of the cycle. The day the patient will begin to use the medication. This date cannot be altered from here. If the start date for a dosage dispense is not correct, the entire dispense MUST be deleted and started again.
-
Finish Date - This is Only used by Nursing Home setups. User can indicate when a patient will stop taking (course is finished) and the system will not repeat that item upon the next repeat of the next cycle.
-
Tick 'Separate' to indicate that an item is separate, not blistered, delivered outside of the standard packaging. An example of an item that would need to be marked as separate would be a bottle of Gaviscon. ‘Separate’ also indicates that an item cannot be phased i.e a bottle of Gaviscon cannot be phased. A Drug Label will print for this item in all setups.
-
Irregular - ‘Irregular’ means that the quantities you wish to dispense are not divisible by 28 days or whatever number of days the cycle is configured to use. i.e. One Ventolin inhaler cannot be divided over 7 or 28 days. On a monthly system, this means the patient will complete the course at the end of week 2.
- Ticking ‘Separate’ will also tick ‘Irregular’. The ‘Irregular’ option allows the user to enter (configure) the dosage. If you mark an item as ‘Irregular’, it doesn't matter what rounds you have given it - they are not applied. The dosage instructions should describe how often to take the medication or the pharmacy could configure a short course/complex dosage if required.
-
PRN Chart - ONLY used by Nursing Homes

-
When you have entered all drugs, select click Complete or (Keyboard: Alt + M)
